Chance Encounters Beyond the Periphery
This month at Studio 21, Katzman Art Projects presents new work by artist Andrew Harris in an exhibition titled; “Chance Encounters Beyond the Periphery”
Exploring personal therapeutic modes of storytelling, Harris uses the medium of oil painting to discuss mental health issues. His visual language is filled with surreal landscapes, creating pseudo-narratives that follow a semi-autobiographical character. Each painting seems to tell its own story. In this fantastical series of paintings, you find references to video games and contemporary street culture, depicted masterfully in neon hues. These cues harmoniously coexist with renaissance symbolism and techniques, as well as a profound mythological framework.
