A gifted amateur photographer from Charlottetown, William Steele Louson, had many of his picturesque views of Island landscapes reproduced (and credited) on postcards in the early 20th century when the public interest in buying and selling postcards was a new mania. As a sales agent he travelled the Island extensively which enabled his photography of the rural landscape.
